Nationwide Search for the Next Big Band in Latin Rock & Pop Culminates in L.A. Concert with CAMILA

 The vibration of vocal chords.  The slap of a bass string being plucked between fingers.  The thump of hearts racing to the beat of the drum.  Music draws upon all the senses and today, 5 Gum™ announced the launch of a nationwide search to find the next hot band in Latin Rock and Pop music.  Vive tu Música with 5™ is giving young, talented musicians across the country the chance to have their music heard by thousands of potential fans and key music influencers who can take their careers to the next level. 

Starting today, bands across the country can upload their videos to http://www.vivetumusica5.com for their chance to be one of five finalists that will travel to Los Angeles and perform at a concert with Sony Discos recording artist Camila on April 30 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.  Bands have until March 12 to participate in what is sure to be the ultimate live music experience.  In addition to appearing in the final concert televised on LATV, the winning band walks away with national exposure, a professional recording session and a behind-the-scenes special about the band.

            “From Camila and Shakira to Café Tacuba and Juanes, Latin music talent is not in short supply,” said Juan Carlos Dávila, director of U.S. Multicultural marketing for the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, makers of 5 Gum.  “5 Gum is giving these bands the chance to stimulate our consumers’ senses and show America just how much good music is out there.”

A Battle of the Bands Where Your Vote Counts

Once bands have uploaded their videos and music, visitors to http://www.vivetumusica5.com will be invited to pick their favorite.  Between March 21 and April 10, Latin rock and pop fans can help send their preferred band to the grand finale in Los Angeles.  Every vote gives participants the chance to win prizes, including a trip to be present at the Los Angeles finale with the 5 finalists and Camila.  Other prizes include iPod Nanos, iTunes gift cards and music downloads.      

The L.A. Finale

On April 30, five lucky finalists will perform their music for a crowd of thousands at Santa Monica’s famed Barker Hangar.  The Vive tu Música with 5 concert, which will feature innovative sensory elements such as ENTER, will also be televised at a later date by LATV.  A panel of five celebrity judges and respected members of the Latin music industry, including members of the band Camila, will help crown the winner.  The concert will culminate with a special performance by Camila who are set to release the most awaited Latin album of the year in May 2009 and will follow it up with a US and Latin American tour.

Giving Back
